چکیده
Despite achieving consensus and having current knowledge on the behaviour contribution of masonry infill walls, there remain unresolved issues regarding their nonlinear as a method for strengthening existing reinforced concrete (RC) frames with effective modifications, primarily infills interconnection frames. The challenge safely economically designing competent walls is to utilise stiffening benefits while ensuring that increased lateral forces reduced drift capacity do not hinder performance. This study aims investigate potential using strengthen previously slightly damaged RC Experimental tests were conducted frame specimens infilled vertically hollowed-clay solid-clay units, connected elements traditional methods (i.e., avoiding use modern composite materials). These strengthened structures subjected constant vertical cyclic loading, which revealed improved stiffness, strength, damping characteristics, enhancing overall behaviour. As main novelties, found when performance resembled undamaged exhibited enhanced hysteretic damping. increase in stiffness was observed regardless type units technique employed. However, improvements strength influenced by specific particularly robustness, chosen reinforcement method.

Retrofit of Un-Reinforced Infill Masonry Walls with FRP
This paper describes an experimental program that deals with retrofitting of infill un-reinforced masonry walls (URM) with Fiber Reinforced Polymer (FRP). The primary objective of this research is to develop a retrofit strategy that while economical will minimize the influence of the retrofit on the overall performance of structural frames in predominant seismic regions. Allowing some damage to...
متن کاملEffect of Unreinforced Masonry Infill Walls on Seismic Performance of Reinforced Concrete Framed Structures
Unreinforced Masonry infill walls (URM) are commonly used in the Reinforced Concrete (RC) framed structures as interiors and exteriors partition walls. Although they usually are not considered in the structural analysis and design, their influence on the seismic performance of the framed structures is significant. A common practice in the modern and old RC buildings is to remove the URM walls i...
متن کاملSeismic Performance of Reinforced Concrete Frames Infilled by Masonry Walls with Different Heights
This study carried out comparative seismic performance of reinforced concrete frames infilled by masonry walls with different heights. Partial and fully infilled reinforced concrete frames were modeled for the research objectives and the analysis model for a bare reinforced concrete frame was also established for comparison. Non–linear static analyses for the studied frames were performed to in...
متن کاملModeling of FRP-Strengthened Infill Masonry Structures
This paper presents an analytical approach to describe the behavior and mode of failure of infill masonry structures strengthened with fiber-reinforced polymer (FRP) materials. The approach is used to simulate the response of strengthened infill masonry walls under the effect of out-of-plane uniformly distributed pressure simulating wind pressure. The approach includes a finite element analysis...

Original scientific paper Reinforced-concrete (R/C) frames infilled with masonry wall, especially with the presence of an opening, are insufficiently explored structural elements. We have experimentally investigated influence of the opening’s type and position to the lateral response of reinforced-concrete frames with masonry infill. Correction factors, that take into account influence of the o...
